about VICTORIA THOMASCH

Originally from a small town in Texas, Victoria Thomasch can now be found performing and teaching in New York City and around the world.  She recently performed the role of Jennie (Down in the Valley) with the Little Opera Theatre of New York and covered the role of Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia) with New Amsterdam Opera.

Last season she completed her Apprentice Residency with Sarasota Opera and performed the role of Annio in a shortened production La Clemenza di Tito with Bronx Opera as part of their outreach program. Some of her favorite roles include: Carmen (Carmen), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Giulio Cesare (Giulio Cesare), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Orlofsky, (Die Fledermaus), Ottavia (L'incoronazione di Poppea), and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier). Competition awards include: 1st Place for the North International Music Competition, 2nd Place for Elaine Malbin and Mario Lanza Competition and the Internationaler Anton Rubinstein Wettbewerb, 3rd Place for the Internationaler Online Gesangswettbewerb Basel, and she was a finalist for the Lyra New York International Music Competition.

Traveling internationally to sing has been a dream come true for Victoria. She has sung in televised opera galas at Teatro Degollado in Guadalajara, performed the role of Mercédès in a cabaret version of Carmen in Berlin, and was honored to be chosen to lead the National Anthem in Toronto for a Blue Jays baseball game. With the Australian Contemporary Opera Company (previously Gertrude Opera), Victoria performed in three operas for the Yarra Valley Opera Festival.

One of the main reasons Victoria became a musician was because she wanted to use the power of music to help others. For 5 years, she produced and performed in her Annual Recital for Refugees concerts, which raised over $23,000 for the International Rescue Committee. She has also taught singing and piano lessons to residents of a refugee camp in Greece with Lifting Hands International and hopes to return soon. Victoria is also a mentor and tutor with A House on Beekman in the Bronx and an active volunteer with the incredible organization, West Side Campaign Against Hunger, in her NYC neighborhood.

Victoria received her Master of Music degree, specializing in Vocal Performance, from New York University, and earned the Yunker Music Scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University, summa cum laude, and graduated from the Honors college, where she completed her thesis on the art songs of Hector Berlioz. Additional training includes young artist residencies with Sarasota Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, and the Australian Contemporary Opera Company.
